Summary
The commission approved the recommended bidders for Jackson County’s fiscal year 2026 annual bids. Jackson County commissioners on Oct. 22 voted to approve the county’s recommended award list for fiscal year 2026 bids.
Staff noted the bids were opened Aug. 11 and that the recommended awards were included in the meeting packet. During discussion, county staff highlighted one vendor — Geo-Stabilization International — as the lone bidder on a geohazard mitigation and emergency-response advertisement. The staff representative said the company’s bid contained an error for the excavation unit price (originally listed at $1.60 per cubic yard in the advertised bid) that the vendor corrected to $37.50 per cubic yard, and the bid omitted mobilization/demobilization for excavation and grading in some line items. After accounting for the corrected excavation price and adding mobilization/demobilization, staff said the county’s estimate still projects a potential overall cost reduction and that the recommendation to award to that vendor did not change.
The commission moved and seconded approval of the recommended bidders and approved the awards by voice vote.
County staff did not read every vendor name or contract amount during the meeting; the packet that accompanies the minutes contains the full recommended award list and line-item details.
