Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Sept. 30 proclaimed October 2025 as Mediation Awareness Month and recognized the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center (CTDRC) for services across Guadalupe and neighboring counties.
Martha Joyce, director of the CTDRC, briefed the court on the center's work: the program mediates family, community, civil and business matters, operates legal clinics (including a wills-and-trusts clinic at the Seguin Library) and trains volunteer mediators. Joyce said the center averages about 200 to 250 mediations annually across four counties and that volunteer and attorney participation is essential to keep clinics operating.
The proclamation noted the center's service footprint (Guadalupe, Comal, Hays and Caldwell counties), its training programs (basic and family mediation training and a CPS training this year), and asserted that mediation can save the court system time and taxpayer resources by resolving disputes outside the courtroom.
Vote and presentation The court moved, seconded and approved the proclamation. Commissioners thanked the center's board members and volunteers; the court presented the proclamation and took photographs.
Ending note CTDRC board member Paul Findlay and staff thanked the court; Joyce said the center hopes to offer additional mediator training sessions in November and to expand volunteer recruitment and public clinics in Guadalupe County.
