Commissioners heard a presentation and public discussion on Sept. 30 about a proposed indoor commercial amusement (specific-use permit ZZ2025-062) in the Harbor retail district (2071 Summer Lee Drive, Suite R103). The group representing the proposed tenant and the Harbor landlord described the concept as a dedicated facility of claw-style prize machines targeted to families and Harbor visitors.
Presenters included Hunter Hayes and Andrew Shaw (landlord representative for PA Harbor Retail LLC). They said the concept is a growing DFW trend, that other jurisdictions have multiple locations, and that the Harbor landlord supports the use and is investing in the tenant’s build-out. Commissioners asked for additional documentation to help evaluate the use: videos or examples of similar operations, information about staffing/security and hours, and evidence of how the amenity complements Harbor tenant mix. The applicant offered to provide videos of existing locations and clarified the business model and security/employee presence.
No vote was taken; staff and the applicants said they will return with additional materials and the case is scheduled for further review at the Oct. 14 meeting.
