Others cautioned that a universal list could become unwieldy or reduce the ability to tailor definitions for specialized chapters such as floodplain or subdivision rules.
Staff and commissioners agreed that consultants working on the city’s code diagnostic (identified in the meeting as Priest and Nichols) should provide templates and examples from other jurisdictions to guide drafting. The commission did not vote or adopt a course of action; members asked staff and the consultant to return with draft language and examples so the commission can consider a clearer approach at a future meeting.
