The Downtown Connection board took several procedural and administrative votes at its Sept. 30 meeting.
The board approved the April 1, 2025 meeting minutes after a requested spelling correction. The board voted to appoint Kevin Spath, director of the City of Dallas Office of Economic Development, as treasurer for the Downtown Dallas Development Authority (DDDA). Staff explained the treasurer need not be a board member under the authority’s bylaws; the appointment replaces Robin Bentley in that role.
The board unanimously rescinded its Aug. 29, 2024 recommendation related to 1401 Commerce Street so that a new application for that property does not remain pending.
On a separate item, the board approved creating a set‑aside fund within the Downtown Connection subdistrict to reserve up to $30,000,000 to support relocation and construction of a new Dallas Fire-Rescue Station No. 18 on three parcels (addresses provided in the packet). Staff said the set‑aside would allow the board to pay the project promptly when it is completed and that current TIF subdistrict funds have no outstanding obligations for the item.
All four procedural/administrative items were approved by voice vote during the meeting and were recorded by staff to be forwarded for any necessary follow-up and, where required, City Council action.
