Staff listed scope items covered under the change order, including tree removal, remediation of unexpected rock, additional bollards and gates, wet-bed tile installation in the pool area, an additional pipe chase, deductions for changed utility scopes and additional liquid/tank removal resulting from infiltration. “A lot of the dollars that are involved in this change order are based upon conditions in the exterior of the building,” a district representative told the committee, adding that exterior work in bid package 1 is substantially complete and that project risk related to the exterior has diminished.
Committee members thanked staff for detailed review, and staff said remaining allowances and contingency are sufficient to absorb the work without increasing the contract amount. The committee voted to recommend the change order; no opposition was recorded.
Staff said they do not anticipate a large number of additional change orders for bid package 1 beyond typical unforeseen conditions encountered during construction.
