The North Penn School District Facilities and Operations Committee recommended awarding a $122,814 professional-services contract to Tetra Tech for asbestos and hazardous materials oversight at North Penn High School.
District staff said the scope covers monitoring and oversight related to asbestos-containing material (ACM) removal during the high school renovation. The solicitation drew multiple responders; the district verified the low bidder’s hours and confirmed references before recommending award.
“This is for bid packages 2 and bid package 3,” a staff member said, adding the hours in the proposal are locked in for roughly five years so monitoring coverage will continue as those packages proceed. Committee members noted the contract’s duration was important given the project’s multi-year schedule.
Staff also explained that this is a professional services contract and therefore not subject to prevailing-wage requirements, a factor that contributed to variation between bids. The committee voted to recommend award; no opposition was recorded.
The contract will return for full-board approval and will be part of the procurement and oversight for the high school construction program.
