Metuchen board approves superintendent five-year contract; routine personnel, finance, policy and field trips pass unanimously

Metuchen Board of Education members voted unanimously Sept. 30 to approve a five-year contract for Superintendent Dr. Caputo and to adopt bundled personnel, finance, policy and field-trip items placed on the consent portion of the agenda.
The board approved three sets of meeting minutes, personnel items A1–A28 (which included the superintendent contract as item A23), finance items B1–B6, policy items C1–C2, and field-trip item D1 by roll call votes. No board member recorded a nay or abstention during the recorded roll calls.
The board president moved the consent agenda items; several motions received named seconds on the record (for example, the personnel motion was seconded by Mr. Glassberg). Board Secretary Mrs. Alievich called roll for each vote, and the clerk recorded each motion as carried.
