Commission accepts integrated Lasterway submission; asks artist to refine design

Commissioners described combining a stairway/portal concept with vineyard/grape motifs and removing one interactive “pin” element from the submitted design at staff’s request.
A motion to accept Chatego’s integrated submission carried after a second; the commission chair said staff would contact the artist after the meeting and ask her to resubmit a fused design suitable for the council packet. The commission reminded members that any final design and the funding mechanism must be presented to town council for approval before installation begins.
Commission staff will check the artist’s portfolio, confirm she can scale the submitted concept to the mural wall and obtain any supplemental materials council requires. The commission noted that council meetings in August were canceled, so official council review would not occur until September.
No payment or final placement was decided at the meeting; staff said they will return to the commission with the revised art packet and budget details for the council submission.
