Commissioners proclaim October Manufacturing Month after workforce presentation citing semiconductor and advanced-manufacturing growth

The Williamson County Commissioner's Court on Sept. 30 adopted a proclamation designating October 2025 as Manufacturing Month and Oct. 3, 2025 as Manufacturing Day after a presentation from Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area.

Paul Fletcher of Workforce Solutions told the court the region has seen substantial growth in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor-related jobs and that the workforce system has completed a sector study identifying employer demand and the need for aligned education and training. Fletcher said employment in advanced manufacturing has grown substantially over the past decade, that many openings require education beyond high school, and that the coming investments associated with large projects will place pressure on the local talent pipeline.

Fletcher cited Samsung's planned facility in Taylor and referenced broader supplier employment growth in the region; the court's proclamation also notes Workforce Solutions' role as the certified workforce authority for the rural capital area. The court approved the proclamation by a unanimous vote recorded as 4-0.
