Parent urges clearer parental-consent communications under SB 12; seeks district accountability

She said district and state guidance were confusing and that she had raised concerns first with her principal and then with district staff, including the counselor director.
Benia said she understood the district planned to notify families about an updated form on Oct. 1 and asked the board to ensure that notification occurs and that parents are afforded ‘‘true parental consentas described in the guidance.
The board did not take action during public comment. Administration and the district staff names Benia said she spoke with were present during the meeting; Benia said she wanted accountability that the district would provide clear notice to families.
