Reading Planning Commission approves 90-day extension for Reading Area Community College land development plan

Planning Commission Chairman Wayne Beeler said at a special Friday meeting that the Reading Planning Commission approved a 90-day time extension for the Reading Area Community College preliminary final land development plan so the city and the college could complete ongoing investigations.

The extension preserves the commission’s ability to act on the plan while the inquiries remain open, Beeler said. “We are here to consider a time a 90 day time extension for the Reading Area Community College student loan land development plan, the, preliminary final plan, while the, the city and RAC do some investigations,” Beeler said.

Michelle (staff member) told commissioners the plan had been tabled earlier in the week and that a meeting held yesterday did not resolve outstanding issues. “So as you know, on Tuesday, we tabled this plan. There was a meeting yesterday. The meeting did not — as the chairman stated, there's some ongoing investigations that need to be resolved before we can consider any action on the plan,” Michelle said. She added that because the plan’s review period had run and this meeting had already been advertised, the commission could act on a time-extension request today.

Commissioners approved the extension by voice vote. The record does not include a roll-call tally or named votes; the transcript shows the motion and subsequent affirmations of “aye.” The commission also voted to accept the meeting agenda at the start of the session.

The commission announced upcoming meetings: a workshop on Oct. 21, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., and the next regular meeting on Oct. 28, 2025, at 6 p.m. The special meeting then adjourned by voice vote.
