Public works director reports project updates: Ridgeway/Chestnut nearing completion, Midwest Fiber duct installed, UV disinfection equipment delivered

Village of Jackson public works staff delivered project updates at the Sept. 30 Board of Public Works meeting, reporting progress and timelines for multiple ongoing capital projects and utility work.
Jack, public works staff, said the Ridgeway Drive and Chestnut Court reconstruction project has "pretty much wrapped up" and crews were completing final punch-list items; staff expects a final pay request to come to the board in October for subsequent Village Board action. Hickory Lane Phase 1 underground work is complete and Phase 2 began in early September with completion still projected in November, Jack said.
On the PATH projects, Glenbrook Drive has been fully paved and restored and Jackson Drive received crack filling and seal coating; staff said contractors would attempt targeted resealing where water compromised sealer adhesion but cautioned success was not guaranteed.
Jack reported the final major component for the wastewater UV disinfection project had arrived and been installed though not yet connected; he said the project should wrap in October or possibly November when remaining hookups and testing are complete.
Regarding fiber broadband work, Jack said Midwest Fiber has been working in Twin Creeks and that "most of the underground duct is in. They're working on restoration moving to the Sherman Park subdivision next." Staff said Midwest Fiber has been responsive to restoration concerns and resident calls. Jack added that the ductwork is being installed ahead of cable pulls so the company can accept customers once they decide when to light the network.
Board members asked about streetlight pole replacements. Jack said fiberglass and aluminum poles the village installs on new subdivisions or on reconstructed streets become village-owned and maintained; wood poles remain the property of the electric utility (We Energies). He said project files for Ridgeway and Hickory Lane did not include street light replacements and that staff would review whether lighting upgrades should be added.
Ending Staff closed with routine operations items including equipment delivery schedules and planned sidewalk and curb replacements at the Oaks of Jackson; the board placed the director's report on file.
