Board OKs MOU with Boys Town National Research Hospital to continue participation in 340B drug-pricing program

Douglas County approved a memorandum of understanding with Boys Town National Research Hospital under which Boys Town will continue to participate in the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program for patients served in hospital programs that assist indigent, underinsured and underserved residents.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved, as part of the consent agenda, a memorandum of understanding with Boys Town National Research Hospital to formalize the hospitals participation in the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program.
Diane Carlson, deputy county administrator, explained the federal 340B program "reduces, discounts the pricing of certain pharmaceuticals, for eligible hospitals that provide services to indigent and underserved and under insured residents of Douglas County." Carlson said the MOU "sets forth Boys Town's pledge to continue to serve those types of individuals. And by doing that, they receive pharmaceuticals to people served by Douglas County" through the hospital's participation.
Commissioners voted to approve the MOU on the consent agenda; the consent motion passed 7-0. The MOU does not itself change federal 340B rules but affirms local participation and the hospitals commitment to serve eligible residents, Carlson said.
