L'Anse Creuse board receives bond construction and technology updates; pool filtration and turf projects advance

Planned and in-design projects: Interior and exterior upgrades for four schools and site improvements for Pankow and Graham elementary schools are under design and expected to be issued this month; roof replacements are largely in punch-list phase; playground replacements will move forward with turf surfacing; drinking fountains/hydration stations are included in upcoming construction packages.
Technology and safety upgrades: The district’s technology lead (Brandon) summarized three major initiatives: an integrated district PA and classroom audio system that will allow PA announcements to override classroom multimedia and will add classroom microphones and wearable staff badges with emergency alert buttons; a full rip-and-replace of security cameras to high-definition IP cameras with planned summer installation; and an interior fiber-optic upgrade from multimode to single-mode fiber to increase bandwidth and reliability. Bid specifications for the audio PA work are expected to be released in October with installations beginning in January and continuing through much of 2026; camera bids are targeted for January with summer 2026 installation; interior fiber work is planned across 2026.

Speakers asked about PA coverage for playgrounds and outdoor spaces; the district said it has been auditing speaker placement and will add speakers where needed.

Next steps: Staff will bring several construction bids/recommendations to the board for approval in upcoming meetings, including a motion to award a mechanical controls upgrade that appeared on the agenda and was approved during the meeting. Technology bid specifications will be finalized and released on the timelines described above.
