Conestoga students: 40 high PSAT index scores and 40 National Merit semifinalists highlighted at TESD meeting

Student representatives and district staff used the Sept. 29 Tredyffrin-Easttown School District board meeting to highlight academic and extracurricular achievements at Conestoga High School.
Student report and PSAT recognition
Student representative Megan Yeary told the board that 40 juniors who tested in last year’s PSAT earned an index score of 221 or higher. Yeary said that number is the most in the state of Pennsylvania and that those students would be recognized during the meeting.
National Merit recognitions and athletics
The board recognized 40 Conestoga students named semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; the list of semifinalists was read aloud at the meeting. The board also congratulated the Conestoga boys tennis team, which the meeting record shows won Central League, district and state championships with an undefeated season (22–0) and noted several individual and doubles champions from the team.
Additional student activities
The student report also noted a successful club fair in the atrium, a homecoming dance that drew a large student turnout, the ribbon-cutting for a new turf field at the Conestoga campus, and other extracurricular items including field hockey and band activities. Student leaders reminded juniors that the PSAT for grades 9–11 is scheduled on Oct. 8 and that it is administered electronically.
