Okeechobee County commissioners approve consent agenda, assessments and multiple budget and contract items

The Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a package of items on the consent agenda and several stand-alone motions during its meeting. Commissioners voted to accept routine minutes and payments, recognize insurance and capital receipts for county departments, adopt annual non‑ad valorem assessments for municipal services, and authorize multiple contract amendments and budget amendments.

The consent agenda included approval of warrants totaling $2,470,821.19 and several sheriff's office capital purchases and financing arrangements. The board recognized previously advanced funds of $101,354 for jail damage from a lightning strike and $106,470 for capital expenditures in another fund; it approved purchases of printers ($16,725) and multiple vehicle purchases (amounts of roughly $450,000, $45,140, and $123,053) with multi‑year financing. The board also authorized the chair to execute a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Small County Consolidated Solid Waste Grant Agreement in the amount of $93,750 for FY 2026 and an Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance Grant Agreement in the amount of $105,806.
