Tim Nelson, a downtown business volunteer and resident, addressed the Muscatine City Council during the Sept. 18 meeting to support a parking‑meter update plan proposed by Council member Jeff Osborne.
“My name is Tim Nelson, 2435 Longhurst Court, Muscatine,” Nelson said during the public comment period. “I'm here to support a plan by Mr. Osborne regarding updating the parking, parking meter situation.” He described instances where out‑of‑county vehicles occupied two‑hour spaces for up to four hours and recommended better signage or curb markings.
Council member Osborne acknowledged the comment and said the item will return for follow‑up at an in‑depth meeting in October. Osborne told the council he plans to meet with members in pairs ahead of the October agenda item to discuss proposals and avoid surprises.
There was no formal council action at the meeting; Nelson’s remarks were entered into the public record and will help shape Osborne’s forthcoming proposals on meter signage and curb markings.
Ending: The council scheduled follow‑up discussion as part of Osborne’s planned October in‑depth meeting, with outreach to council members in advance.
