Board appoints Melissa McCauley as Manitowoc County treasurer

Melissa McCauley told the board she had served as deputy treasurer for four years and said she has 29 years of experience in county government. "I'm going in eyes wide open," McCauley said, describing the office as "multifaceted" and thanking interim staff who kept the office functioning during the transition. She also noted that a new deputy treasurer, Elizabeth Pohl, began work the prior week.
McCauley thanked the board for the vote and asked residents to stop by the courthouse to meet the new team. The appointment follows a recent resignation from the treasurer's office; the board packet included a letter summarizing McCauley's qualifications before the vote.
The clerk conducted the vote on the county resolution appointing McCauley; the board then congratulated the new treasurer.
