Kossuth County supervisors accepted an application for private drainage access in Irvington Township, Section 26, and set a hearing for Nov. 4 at 8:15 a.m.
Staff member Jennifer confirmed the applicant had been in contact with county staff and that, under the county’s process, the two affected landowners would be notified to attend the discussion. "He's spoken with Tyler on this. And so we're just acknowledging that or accepting his application," Jennifer said. The board discussed that the county must set a hearing date greater than 30 days from acceptance and that notice would be sent to the two affected landowners; a supervisor cited Iowa Code guidance on drainage district procedures.
A motion to accept the application and set the hearing date and time passed by voice vote.
The board also discussed the $1 application fee; staff indicated the fee would be credited to office revenue for filing/handling and would be allocated as appropriate. Staff said the matter is a private drainage access issue between two landowners and that the county's role is to facilitate the hearing and ensure the two affected parties are notified.
