Board member Mara moved for a "verbal censure of Mike Adams, the chair," saying she wanted a nonwritten reprimand limited to the verbal form. "I'd like to have a verbal censure of Mike Adams, the chair, with no long term written in the verbal recursions other than just a flow censure," Mara said during the open-session discussion.
The board took a roll-call vote on the censure motion. The recorded votes were: Chris — No; Rachel — No; Amanda — No; Mike Adams — No; Theo — No; Harry — Yes; Dustin — No. The motion failed.
Following additional discussion, a separate motion to take no action on the three complaints carried. During the vote on that motion the board recorded at least the following Yes votes: Chris, Rachel, Mike Adams and Amanda; the chair announced, "Motion carries. We will take no action on the 3 complaints." The board then returned the meeting to Chair Mike Adams for final announcements.
The complaints had been discussed in executive session earlier; board members noted that no formal action may be taken while in executive session. The successful motion to take no action was described in open session as the board choosing not to pursue formal remedies on the three complaints.
Board announcements at the meeting included scheduling and training notices: a board officers meeting on Monday, Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the superintendent's office; Oct. 10, 2025, noted as an in-service day for the schools; a strategic planning meeting on Monday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. in the district office board room; the next regular board meeting Monday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the district office board room; and the OSBA annual convention in Portland beginning Nov. 6, which board members were encouraged to attend for training.
No statutory citations or written reprimands were introduced on the record during the meeting. The board’s formal outcome on the complaints is limited to the public-motion result recorded in open session.
