The Huron City Commission voted to approve a plat and a formal resolution authorizing the vacation of a street area to support an expansion by HMMI LLC (referred to in the meeting as Horizontal Machining).
City staff described the plat as establishing a 20-foot vacation area to be treated as an easement, with the exception of a small notch adjacent to the proposed building addition. Staff said the plat corresponds to a prior vacation approved at an earlier meeting and that it meets the conditions the commission previously set. Staff also told the commission that Northwestern (a stakeholder identified in the staff presentation) provided final approval for the easement arrangement.
A separate resolution (recorded in the meeting as resolution 2025-O5) was presented for formal adoption; staff explained that filing the resolution with the Department of Revenue and the registered-deed office triggers conveyance of the property to Horizontal Machining for the addition. The commission voted to approve both the plat and the resolution by roll call vote.
Commissioners asked no substantive follow-up questions during the recorded discussion. Staff and applicants will proceed with the deed recordings and any subsequent implementation steps required by the city.
