Ada County treasurer: state homeowner tax-relief funds total about $40.5 million

Ada County Treasurer Beth Monk told commissioners on Sept. 30 the county has received the aggregate homeowners tax relief (HTR) figure that will be applied as a credit on eligible property tax bills.
Monk said the HTR aggregate amount that will be reflected on bills is $40,500,000 for tax year 2025, a slight decrease from the roughly $42 million figure for tax year 2024. The treasurer said county staff will begin incorporating that number into tax-bill calculations.
Monk also answered a question about an internal fund transfer the county conducted; finance staff explained the county wrote a check to transfer funds between line items and that was cleared with the bank without moving investment funds. Staff said the approach was chosen for transparency and to avoid creating recurring interfund transfers in the financial system, which would complicate reconciliation.
The treasurer said more detailed tax-bill amounts will be known in the coming weeks as other inputs are finalized.
