Ada County adopts fleet procurement policy; fleet manager earns CAFM certification

Ada County commissioners on Sept. 30 approved a resolution adopting the county’s fleet procurement policy and discussed ongoing efforts to manage and downsize the county vehicle fleet.
County staff described the policy as the product of several months of work and said it sets standards for how the county will manage its vehicle fleet. The policy aims to improve fleet efficiency and enable better management and replacement planning.
Commissioners and staff said they expect the policy to help downsize the fleet and raise utility per vehicle. While discussing the policy, the board recognized Ken (fleet manager) for recently passing the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) certification. Staff said the certification will allow Ken to append CAFM to his professional credentials.
The board voted to adopt the fleet procurement policy and authorized the chair to sign the resolution. The policy itself and implementation details are available in the meeting packet.
