Staff said recent rains delayed a bridge project by roughly a week to a week and a half because base material ponded and contractors had to cut new drains; guardrail and paving work remain to be completed. The department outlined ditching, pipe replacement, tree and brush clearing and other maintenance across several county roads. Staff highlighted an in-house fabrication of a stainless-steel cab cover for a bucket truck as a cost-saving measure and reported that in-house repairs on seven vehicles saved an estimated $19,006.19 compared with outsourcing.
Commissioners asked for timeline updates on the bridge project and thanked staff for the reported efficiencies. The meeting record included routine departmental notes and upcoming homecoming-week community participation by county offices.
