Tulare County agricultural output rises to $8.3 billion; report flags fallowed acres and data gaps in milk statistics

Christopher Greer, a staff member with the Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office, presented the county’s 2024 Crop and Livestock Report to the Tulare County Board of Supervisors, saying the county’s total crop and livestock value rose about 6%—roughly $477 million—to $8,300,000,000 for 2024.

The report, delivered during the board’s open session, catalogs acreage, commodity values and export activity and satisfies state reporting requirements under the California Food and Agricultural Code. Greer described the department’s four divisions—pesticide use enforcement; pest exclusion and standardization; weights and measures; and pest detection, management and crop statistics—and summarized the key findings from the new report.

Why it matters: Tulare County is one of California’s largest agricultural exporters and the report provides data policymakers and growers use to track production, markets and local impacts of water availability and pest pressures.
