Commissioners authorized the county to use MoDOT’s screened list of on-call engineering firms so the county can contact prequalified engineers directly in emergencies instead of soliciting separate requests for qualifications.
The commission approved an agreement to import Time Clock Plus attendance data into the county’s Tyler payroll system. Meeting remarks recorded the annual recurring fee as $2,000 and a one-time setup fee referenced variously in the discussion as $830 and later as $8,030; the agreement was approved despite that discrepancy in spoken figures.
A motion to post 35 mph speed limit signs on Longboro Road, following a resident complaint about increased traffic and a cited fatal crash, was approved. The sheriff told the commission that, once signs are posted, his office would be able to enforce the limit and would start with warnings.
County leaders approved creation of a part-time road supervisor position to provide relief for an existing supervisor who has been unable to take time off. Commissioners described the role as nonunion, limited to under 1,000 hours per year and paid $25 per hour without benefits. The commission also granted permission to sell several used or salvage vehicles and other surplus equipment through the county’s chosen disposition process.
Commissioners also approved a motion to apply for a state solid-waste grant (a tire-collection grant), continuing the county’s prior participation in similar programs.
The meeting concluded with the commission setting a schedule reminder: the next regular meeting will fall on Monday, Oct. 6 (agenda items due Friday at 10 a.m.).
