County reports microsurfacing, paving and shop/bridge work; some traffic changes expected at Osmus intersection

Secondary Roads staff briefed Winnebago County supervisors on pavement and capital projects and outlined remaining work.
Scott (Secondary Roads staff) said microsurfacing might happen this week for Winnebago Church Road pending availability of aggregate and mix design. Paving work on a separate project is complete, and crews will add shoulders, paint pavement markings and install rumble strip panels and permanent signs; staff said the contractor will return for rail transition repairs but the county will not delay striping for those patches.
Staff reported trucks placed rock driveways for a hospice access and that shoulder work from Osmus back to town was imminent. At one intersection, the board was told the traffic control pattern will change: stop signs will be posted on the north and south approaches while east‑west traffic will be through movements, and “pavement ends” signs will be added.
On the shop project, crews have moved into the new facility, finished much of the interior, and were pouring a concrete pad for scrap and fuel barrels; asphalt work for the salt shed pad remained. The county also reported a bridge removal and replacement project (Buffalo 25/4) with box culvert delivery and crane coordination expected in the coming weeks.
Supervisors approved interim contract closeout steps for surfacing projects and were told final payments will follow federal closeout procedures for federally funded work.
