Tulare County schedules employee health fair; open enrollment runs Oct. 1–17

A representative from Tulare County Human Resources and Development announced the county’s annual employee and retiree health fair and the start of open enrollment.
“...taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1 at the Visalia Convention Center,” said the HRD speaker, who provided event details and asked the board to support employee attendance.
The presenter said the fair will host more than 50 vendors offering free health screenings, educational resources and on-site enrollment for 2026 medical, dental and vision benefits. Breakout sessions will cover financial planning, stress management and mental health awareness. The open enrollment period runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 17; HRD staff will also visit county locations in October to help employees with enrollment changes. The presenter said employees are granted two hours of county-paid time to attend the fair.
The presenter said gift cards will be issued to encourage participation and noted the fair’s theme, “Stronger Together, Breaking the Silence,” emphasizing mental health resources. When asked jokingly by a supervisor whether there would be “puppies,” the presenter confirmed animal-control participation and a pet-food option at the event.
The announcement came during the meeting’s public comment period and provided employees with dates, location and procedures for on-site assistance.
