Commission OKs 340‑square‑foot storage building in downtown loading dock area

The Downtown Commission voted to approve construction of a 340-square-foot storage building in the loading-dock area of 255 East Main Street, a project staff described as consistent with downtown design guidelines for the area.
Staff presented plans showing the new structure inside an existing retaining wall next to the dumpster and within an existing surface parking lot. Submitted materials included a site plan, renderings, elevations, building sections, photos and a product spec sheet. The proposed exterior material is board-and-batten-style panel siding; the applicant said metal siding in a dark bronze color with a gray roof was planned.
Edward Nabokow, identified as the applicant representative, said the building is segmented into four compartments for separation of stored materials and that a chain-link fence currently on the site is intended to keep trash and people out. In response to a commissioner question about permanence, Nabokow said the structure is intended to be permanent. He also confirmed two new security light fixtures will be installed on the front of the building and that existing parking-lot lighting will remain.
A motion to approve the storage-building application carried on voice vote. Commissioners recorded no roll-call vote in the transcript; the chair announced the motion "carries."
