City manager declines further amendments to employment agreement; contract remains in effect

City staff told the Cape Coral City Council on Sept. 25 that the city manager declined to move forward with proposed amendments to the employment agreement, leaving the 2023 contract in effect.
The city attorney reported that, after consultation with the city manager and the mayor, the city manager "has decided to decline moving forward any amendments to this contractual agreement." The council therefore will continue under the contract approved in 2023.
Council members asked for clarification about the salary effect of the contract provision discussed earlier. Staff stated the contract contains a self-executing provision that applies a 7.5% adjustment; the city's calculation described the annual salary as approximately $336,000 following that adjustment. The city attorney and city manager's office provided the calculation on the record to show the fiscal effect for the current year.
No further amendments were proposed or approved at the meeting.
