Albany County accepts $40,000 Highway Safety Grant for pedestrian education and outreach

The Albany County Legislature authorized entering into an agreement with the New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee to accept a $40,000 Highway Safety Grant for the program term Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026.

County health staff told legislators the funds will support pedestrian safety work, including distribution of pedestrian-safety information at selected intersections, safety education in schools and community outreach. Staff said the County Health Department has received support from this grant for its CBC initiative for six consecutive years beginning in 2019.
