Sheriff's Department Oversight Board approves minutes and elects officers at Sept. 5 meeting

The Sheriff's Department Oversight Board (SDOB) took several formal actions at its Sept. 5 meeting in San Francisco.

The board approved the minutes from the Aug. 1, 2025 meeting. In a roll-call vote the board recorded Afua Mangal, Member Allen, Member Carrion, Member Ortiz, Member Palmer and Member Sue as voting "aye." The board announced, "There are 6 ayes and no nays. The minutes from 08/01/2025 meetings are approved."

The board then conducted nominations and votes for officers. Member Carrion nominated William Palmer for president; a second was recorded. On the roll call for the presidential nomination the transcript records Afua Mangal voting aye, Member Allen recorded as nay, Member Carrion recorded as aye, Member Ortiz recorded as aye, Member Palmer recorded as aye, and Member Sue recorded as aye. The meeting chair announced, "There are 4 ayes and 2 nays. Congratulations to President-elect Palmer."
