The Tuscaloosa City Council on Sept. 2 approved two off‑premises alcohol licenses for a new Aldi store proposed at 9750 Highway 69 South.
The licenses — application 25‑047A for retail beer (off premises only) and 25‑047B for retail table wine (off premises only) — were called by an Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) representative, who noted the applications and submitted reports to the city clerk’s office. Police Chief Brent Blankley told the council the Tuscaloosa Police Department had no objections to the applications. James Ritzel, identified as the district manager representing Aldi, answered council questions about the location.
City staff presented maps and reports showing the proposed location and noted filings were on record with the city clerk. No members of the public spoke for or against the applications during the public hearing. The council moved and seconded both applications and adopted each motion; the clerk recorded approval for both licenses.
The approvals clear the way for Aldi’s 2‑51 location to seek final ABC board action and to complete local permitting before opening. The ABC application numbers and the city’s minutes are on file with the city clerk’s office for those seeking more detail.
