The Surprise City Council unanimously approved seven items on its consent agenda during the Sept. 2 meeting and recommended approval of two retail liquor‑license applications to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.
Council members voted to recommend approval of the following applications to the state agency: Cindy's Mini Market No. 2, Series 10 (application number 353487), located at 15444 Breecewood Street, Surprise 85378; and Circle K No. 9596, Series 10 (application number 352173), located at 16180 West Jomax Road, Surprise 85387. Both recommendations were made after the council opened and then closed the public‑hearing portions; no members of the public spoke on either item. The council made both recommendations by voice vote; the clerk recorded the outcomes as unanimous.
On the consent agenda the council considered seven routine items (the staff report listed seven items) and approved them by unanimous voice vote after no requests were made to pull items for separate discussion.
The council did not take any final licensing action at the meeting; the city’s vote is a recommendation to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, which issues the final licenses.
No further action was taken on either liquor application at the Sept. 2 meeting.
