He said staff recommended R-110 to match adjacent zoning and avoid creating a zoning island.
Council members discussed alternatives, including R-A 0.5 and R-1-10, pressed for recording the reasons for deviating from the one-acre agricultural designation and asked staff to state the four approval standards in the motion. Councilman Thomas moved approval including the record that the change meets the city—s zone-change criteria, and Councilman Hershey seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Council recorded that the decision was based on compatibility with surrounding development, adequate public facilities, and avoidance of creating a zoning island; public comments about potential increased density were noted in the record.
