The Hurricane City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-36 creating a Hurricane America 250 community committee and to approve a logo-usage memorandum of understanding with the state America 250 program.
The resolution formalizes the city—s partnership with America 250 Utah, authorizes the mayor to appoint committee members and affirms council support for local projects to "educate, engage and unite the community" while promoting tourism and economic development, the council said during the meeting.
The logo agreement approved separately allows the city to update its brand materials to include the America 250 mark. Under the MOU the state will provide the city—s official America 250 logo and $1,500; the city must agree to limited usage terms, avoid misuse of the trademarked mark and post at least one social-media item acknowledging the partnership.
Council members discussed possible ways to use the mark, from adjusting city color schemes to producing commemorative items and events across the year. Councilman Fawcett moved to adopt the resolution; Councilman Thomas seconded. Councilman Ellermann later moved, and Councilman Preet seconded, approval of the logo-usage memorandum. Votes on both items were unanimous.
Council members said the committee will present event ideas and branding options to the council in coming meetings.
