The La Verne Planning Commission on Aug. 26 approved a final plat for Lakewoods Phase 11, authorizing 18 lots on approximately 6.52 acres off Erlene Jones Drive in the northern part of La Verne.
Planning staff described the tract as a heavily wooded, undeveloped parcel to be served by a new cul‑de‑sac and an internal street that will stub to adjacent property for future connection. The proposed lots will take access from Erlene Jones Drive, and the plat shows a stormwater detention area adjacent to one corner of the development.
Engineer Danny Womble of Womble and Associates (the applicant’s consultant, listed on the meeting agenda as the requester firm) said a homeowners association will be established to maintain the detention pond, injection wells and associated landscaping. “They'll have to be a homeowner association set up to maintain the detention pond and the injection wells and the landscaping that will be in it and around it,” he said.
A commissioner asked whether a particular lot (number 1114) met setbacks and buildable area requirements; the engineer confirmed it is a 10,000‑square‑foot lot and is buildable. Commissioners moved to approve the final plat; a second was given and the motion passed by voice vote. No conditions beyond standard plat recording requirements were recorded in the meeting minutes.
