Ryan (city staff) told the council the city received direction in July to begin planning, budgeting and work toward a potential relocation of the gatehouse structures "to generally the area around Grand Avenue between Hardman Avenue and Concord Street." He said the parks commission will discuss the Hardman Triangle public open space plan at its next meeting and the council will take up the subject at a Sept. 22 work session.
Staff summarized preliminary budget estimates: refurbishing both gatehouse structures in their current location would be "a little under $200,000," while the rough estimate to pick up, move and set both structures elsewhere was about $210,000 total. Ryan said those figures are high‑level estimates that could change once a final location, soils, and other site conditions are known.
