The Saratoga Springs City Council adopted a six-year capital plan for 2026 through 2031 on Tuesday following a second public hearing, voting 5-0 to approve the package.
The public hearing included comments from several residents. BK Karamalte, who identified himself as a longtime resident and candidate for office, praised public safety but criticized the city’s approach to infrastructure and interdepartmental coordination, saying officials “are guarding their own silo” instead of focusing on “what is good for Saratoga Springs as a whole.”
Council members said the Finance and Accounts departments review capital needs as part of their duties and emphasized that department heads must be consulted, while acknowledging the plan is the council’s opportunity to set citywide priorities. After discussion the council adopted the capital plan by roll call.
The approved plan, filed with the city clerk’s office and presented at an earlier meeting, includes a range of infrastructure and facility projects through 2031; specific project funding and timing are recorded in the capital plan documents kept in the clerk’s office.
