City outlines Public Art Fund budget, donation process and utility-box art project

Prapdi Oriole, the finance director for the City of Sonoma, told the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission that the city budgeted $25,600 in revenue for Fiscal Year 2025–26 in the Public Art Fund, including a $25,000 transfer from the general fund and $600 in interest. The fund’s beginning cash balance is $70,739; after projected revenue and expenses, Oriole said the ending balance would be $74,839.
Oriole said the FY25–26 budget includes $15,000 budgeted for a utility-box art wrap project and $20,000 for permanent and temporary public-art funding proposals. “On the expense side, we have posited utility box art grama for $15,000 and permanent and temporary funding request, for $20,000,” Oriole said. She also reviewed restrictions and allowable uses in the city’s public-art policy, citing sections 5.6 and 5.7 of that policy as the source for the listed eligible and ineligible expenditures.
