Peachtree Corners council approves consent agenda, awards median landscape contract

The Peachtree Corners City Council approved its consent agenda, which included several transportation and public-works agreements and a new contract to outsource landscape maintenance for a high-profile median on State Route 141.
City Manager Jim reviewed nine consent items before the vote and provided detail on the landscape maintenance contract selected through RFP. He said the contracted area runs from the SR 141 split to the Chattahoochee River, and includes the new gateway sign at Medlock and 141. The manager said at-grade medians on the city's section of 141 require more labor-intensive maintenance than raised medians used by neighboring Johns Creek, citing drainage and edging needs. The contract will cover edging, litter removal, pruning, periodic plant removal, and other upkeep; the winning qualified low bidder will assign personnel during grass season to focus on the city section.
Other consent items the council approved included project framework agreements with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the Jones Bridge Park connector at the Chattahoochee River and for the Crooked Creek Trail section from Spalding to Peachtree Corner Circle; a task order for design and planning of the Crooked Creek Trail; authorization to execute a construction agreement tied to the state's local maintenance and improvement grant for 2024 sidewalks; acceptance of a Metropolitan River Protection Act certificate for property at 4587 Ridgegate Drive; a change order to extend the FY2026 street-resurfacing contract; and authorization to sign a revised renewal summary for the employee life and health insurance program.
Councilmembers approved the consent agenda by voice/hand vote after a motion; no roll-call tally was recorded on the public record. The city manager noted that because Peachtree Corners does not levy a city millage rate, the city has closely managed operating costs and determined outsourcing the SR 141 median maintenance best addresses both quality and staffing needs.
The council also had a first reading for an amendment to the Holcomb Bridge Road corridor redevelopment overlay district that would expand the district to include the Mechanicsville area and rename it the Redevelopment Incentive Overlay District; that amendment will return for a second reading at the September meeting. No substantive debate or final vote on that amendment occurred at this meeting.
