The Gadsden County Value Adjustment Board on an otherwise brief agenda appointed attorney Larry White as the boards counsel, elected Commissioner Henson as chair, adopted a $50 filing fee and voted to deny three late petitions to appear before the board. Members also confirmed hearings scheduled for Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, 2025, both at 9 a.m.
The actions move forward preparation for the boards upcoming hearings on property-value appeals. The clerk told members the board had received 20 petitions to date, five of which had been withdrawn, leaving 15 active petitions; the clerk also said three additional petitions had been filed late and one late petition lacked a filing fee.
Attorney Larry White was nominated and approved as the value adjustment board attorney. A motion to appoint White was made and seconded on the record; the board then voiced support and the appointment was confirmed. Commissioner Henson was nominated and elected chair; that motion was likewise seconded and approved.
Members discussed the boards procedural materials and where to find them. A member announced that the boards uniform rules and procedures are available on the clerks website via a link to the Florida Department of Revenue. The clerk also noted that a printed copy of the First Amendment Foundation guide is available in the room and that copies may be obtained from the First Amendment Foundation in Tallahassee.
The board adopted and ratified a $50 filing fee; a motion to adopt the verification of the $50 filing fee was made and seconded and the board recorded its approval. On the record, the clerk described three late petitions that the property appraiser had flagged as having insufficient information; the clerk said one additionally was filed without a fee or accompanying explanation. The board moved to deny the late petitions, the motion was seconded and a vote to deny was recorded.
The board confirmed its next hearing dates for Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, 2025, both starting at 9 a.m., and then recessed the meeting to reconvene at a later date.
Meeting remarks and procedural guidance reiterated that the boards meetings are subject to Floridas Government in the Sunshine Law and that required training and additional materials are available through the Department of Revenues website. The clerk advised members that value-adjustment training is available online and encouraged members who have not completed it to do so before hearings.
No public testimonies, contested evidence summaries, or final rulings on individual petitions appear in the meeting record provided; the boards actions were limited to appointments, procedural rules, the filing-fee ratification and the decision on the late-filed petitions.
