Council adopts amendment to match state increase in police retirement contributions to 9%

City staff told the council the increase is intended to support recruitment and retention of officers. Council voted in favor of the amendment after a brief discussion; staff indicated the change will be implemented in the new budget cycle to ease the transition.
The council recorded affirmative votes and the amendment will be incorporated into the city’s retirement contribution schedule and payroll processes beginning Oct. 1.
