The Scottsbluff City Council approved a special designated liquor license allowing Compass Community Care Foundation to serve beer, wine and distilled spirits at Senior Fest on Aug. 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Eighteenth Street Plaza.
Rick Meisner of Compass Home Healthcare and Joanne Schumacher (with the foundation) described the event as a fundraiser to support a free medical equipment program and to help seniors pay for home care. Organizers said they expect daytime attendees to be older residents and a younger crowd in the evening as the event shifts; they described plans for food vendors and DJ music with possible karaoke.
On security and alcohol control, organizers said they will staff gates with security and use wristbands or bracelets to indicate that an attendee’s ID has been checked; each gate will check IDs. They said they will coordinate with local law enforcement and will work with beverage distributors after receiving council approval. Council members voiced support for the event; the license was moved, seconded and approved.
