City staff told the West Richland City Council on Sept. 16 that they will circulate draft policies and goals for the comprehensive plans required climate element ahead of a Sept. 30 meeting with the citys consultant, and encouraged council feedback to help the meeting run efficiently. Staff asked councilmembers to submit questions in advance so the consultant can prepare answers.
Staff also said senior staff are revising the citys 2026 legislative priorities based on the 2025 priorities and indicated they plan to distribute a draft during the week of Sept. 23. The council will hear a presentation from legislative consultant Jennifer Ziegler at the November meeting on 2025 successes and the draft 2026 priorities; staff said the goal is to adopt priorities that night to prepare for meetings with local legislative representatives and to plan any travel to Olympia.
No formal action was taken Sept. 16; staff requested feedback and set timelines for document distribution and subsequent council consideration.
