The Plainfield Community School Corp Board of Trustees approved routine consent items, the district's monthly financial summary for August and claims numbered 69852 through 70105 during its Sept. 11 meeting.
Mr. Sturdovich, a district finance staff member, presented the financial summary. He reported the district had spent 64.24% of the education fund budget through August (about two-thirds of the fiscal year), with the debt-service fund at about 48% and operations at about 52.05%. Cash on hand at the end of August was reported as $31,990,854 and interest income for the month was $92,614.
Sturdovich highlighted several notable payments and transfers: a transfer of $407,925 from education operations; a payment of roughly $16,500 for Pearson curriculum materials; a near-$95,000 payment covering two months of Stratus services; and a final payment of about $22,000 for fire-system repairs and upgrades. He said the Stratus payment covered duties for open custodian positions and that transfers and appropriations were made as needed.
After the presentation, trustees approved the financial summary and the claims by voice vote. The consent agenda approved at the same meeting included minutes from Aug. 14 work and regular meetings, donations, field trips and camps, obsolete food-service and technology equipment, approval of the annual financial report for July 2024'June 2025, a transfer policy, special-education contracted services and use of ECA funds for Plainfield High School.
Why it matters: the monthly financial summary and claims approvals provide the board's oversight of spending and cash flow and formally authorize payments and transfers recommended by staff.
