MTA representative reads list of teachers recognized for reaching performance thresholds

Deb Smith, speaking on behalf of the Middletown Teachers Association (MTA), read the names of dozens of teachers publicly recognized for meeting district 50% academic achievement goals and thanked the district curriculum department for sending congratulatory cards.
"On behalf of MTA, it is my pleasure to speak to you this evening," Deb Smith said as she read a long list of teachers and noted several had met the 50% threshold in two subjects. She named more than 60 staff members, including Jennifer Bautista, Madison Roberts, Lisa Von Holly, Ashley Schluter, Jessica Rutledge and many others. Smith said some recipients were retired and some met the threshold in multiple subjects.
Board members and the superintendent thanked Smith and congratulated the teachers. The recognitions were presented during the public-comment portion of the meeting; no formal board action was required.
Board members said they were proud of teachers— work and acknowledged strong community attendance at recent open houses and the district—s early-year athletics and extracurricular participation.
The board noted the recognitions as part of routine acknowledgment of staff accomplishments.
