The Azusa Unified School District Board of Education on Sept. 9 approved a third amendment to the purchase-and-sale agreement for the former Powell Elementary site, accepted the district's unaudited actuals for fiscal year 2024'25 and approved the consent agenda covering items 10.1 through 10.25.
The amendment to the agreement with Taylor Morrison of California LLC reduces the sale price to $31,200,000, moves the deadline for the first additional deposit to no later than Sept. 18, 2025, and raises the extension deposit to $450,000, according to the presentation at the meeting. The superintendent also reported that RC Homes made a nonrefundable deposit on May 30 for the former Allentown school property.
Board members voted to accept the district's unaudited actuals for 2024'25. Staff told the board that total general fund revenue for the year was about $155 million and that actual general fund expenditures were about $150 million, producing an increase in the ending fund balance of roughly $4 million. Staff said the district's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) sources represented about 64.2% of general fund revenue; local, state and federal revenues comprised the remainder. The presentation noted unrestricted and restricted ending balances and listed categorical carryovers that become beginning balances for 2025'6.
In closed session the board reported two final settlements in Office of Administrative Hearings matters: case 2025060698 (student number 25-2601-4) and case 2025050240 (student number 25260105). The meeting transcript states both were approved "by a vote of 3." The board approved the consent agenda (items 10.1'10.25) and tabled a proposed governance-board meeting date change until the board president could be present.
