WINCHESTER, Va. — Key formal actions taken during the Winchester School Board meeting on Tuesday:
Votes at a glance
- Consent agenda — Adopted. Motion to approve consent agenda items (agenda, minutes, bills, monthly finance report, facility usage and the CTE advisory committee) was made and seconded; the chair announced the motion passed.
- Elevate 2030 strategic plan — Adopted. Motion to approve Elevate 2030 was moved by Mr. Burchanoff and seconded by Mr. Rothermel; the chair called for the ayes and declared the plan adopted. The board will review KPIs at an October retreat.
- Closed session — Motion made and seconded to convene a closed session for personnel matters, including candidates for instructional/licensed positions, stipends, substitutes, support staff and resignations. The motion was moved by Mr. Burchanoff and seconded by Miss Harris; the chair proceeded to convene a closed session per the motion.
What this means: The consent agenda covered routine governance items. Adoption of Elevate 2030 puts the district’s five-year strategy into effect and sets the schedule for KPI reporting. The closed-session motion follows standard governance practice for personnel discussions; no personnel decisions were announced in open session during the public portion of the meeting.
